New Beginnings at
GULL RIVER GOLF CLUB
Our History
Beaverbrook Golf Course
With the greatest respect to the Beaverbrook Golf Course 82-year history, and past owners Andy and Dave Stevens; we feel this new name reflects our vision for growth. This includes a welcoming club-like atmosphere at the facility; while tying the course to its greatest attraction and the heart of the community, which is the Gull River flowing through Minden.
1939 was the inaugural year for the Beaverbrook Golf Course, which was originally a piece of farm land located in the heart of Minden, ON. Original owner Andy Stevens purchased the property with a vision to create a 9-hole parkland golf experience along the edge of the scenic Gull River.
Starting out with a generally bare piece of property, the course has matured to now have an array of trees clearly defining each of the holes. The vast effort in the early years of development has truly created a challenging yet methodical layout for all golfers to enjoy.
Dave Stevens, son of Andy Stevens; was a strong junior golfer who was raised at the club. He continued the family tradition assuming ownership and management duties in 1971. Putting his strong golf knowledge background to work he continued the evolution of the layout passed on from his father.
Throughout his tenure at Beaverbrook the course continued to be a desired destination! Its capacity to host events, provide a relaxing atmosphere, and be a part of the community for local residents and cottager’s will always be remembered.
